Richard

Richard

On February 20th, 2007 Richard collapsed in school. His Father was called a few minutes later, his Dad knew something was major wrong. 911 was called immediately. Richard was rushed to Etobicoke General and then to Sick Kids Hospital. He spent close to 2 months there and almost 8 months at Bloorview kids rehab.   He was healthy prior to that. He had absolutely no signs. Richard had a stroke, he has damage to his cerebellum and brain stem.

Prior to the illness, Richard played with his sister and spent a lot of time with his Father. He enjoyed basketball and bike riding.

Today, Richard is in a wheel chair, has very little movement in his hands. His talking rate is good, he understands, but his short term memory is minimal. A few minutes later, he will forget everything.

Richard has assistance in school with a resource teacher and EA. His parents are looking forward to him walking again, and being able to enjoy life to the fullest.
